Teacher Passion, Student Action Series

A small wellness center inside Centennial High School has been reimagined as a strength training gym by CHS teacher Robert Montoya. Montoya's strength training class helps students train their bodies and minds, manage emotions, and set goals.

March

A student mixes something up during the cooking contest.

Students from across the district showed off their culinary prowess Tuesday in the 12th annual Middle & High School Kids Cooking Competition at Timnath Middle-High School. Teams whipped up a dish of their choice using at least three fresh produce items from the school salad bar.

The Johannsen Support Services Center will proudly host a SuperArt student art reception tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for two dozen 糖心vlog schools. Tonight's event is the second of two receptions for SuperArt students and their families; a reception for 25 more 糖心vlog schools took place Wednesday evening.

糖心vlog's Knowledge Bowl teams from Fort Collins High, Fossil Ridge High, Rocky Mountain High, and Timnath Middle-High duked it out in the 2025 糖心vlog Knowledge Bowl earlier this month. The Lambkins came out on top with their first district-level victory in 23 years!

 

February

FCHS Make A Wish recipient.

During Spread the Love Week earlier this month, the Fort Collins High School community raised more than $21,000 to help make a 13-year-old's wish to visit the Great Barrier Reef come true in partnership with Make-a-Wish Colorado.

Webber Middle School students got to see movies they created come to life on the big screen during the school's second annual Family Film Night! Students made each of the movies shown at the event earlier this month at The Lyric.

January

On Dec. 18, Poudre and Thompson school districts and the Matthews House celebrated the grand opening of a youth shelter in Loveland. , which will officially open Jan. 27, is made possible through a community partnership.

Led by the Student Council, Poudre High students and staff provided more than 600 糖心vlog students, families, and community members with two weeks' worth of food at the ahead of Winter Break.

Congrats to the 45 students at Dunn Elementary, an International Baccalaureate World School, including being reflective, caring, and knowledgeable.

 

December

First-graders in Kristen Urbauer's and Jana McCoy's classes at McGraw Elementary drew monsters and saw them brought to life by students in Liz Broste's

Students at the Eighth grade career fair.

Eighth-graders explored career fields that match their interests and learned about classes and opportunities that will help them reach their dream job at the Eighth Grade Career Fair at Colorado State University.

Olander students present their film at the film fest.

Olander students organized an Eco Experience Film Fest to present stories inspired by their time at CSU's Mountain Campus this fall. The festival was the culmination of a project-based learning process.

Centennial High School students enjoyed a walk, expressed their gratitude for important things in their lives while standing in a gratitude circle, and enjoyed a communal feast on the last day before Fall Break. 

For the second year in a row, the 糖心vlog Stars Hockey Team played a friendly game of hockey against a team of local law enforcement officers at NoCo Ice Center. All proceeds raised went to the 糖心vlog Stars. 

 

November

Thirty-six seniors from six 糖心vlog high schools became certified to work as wildland firefighters during a weekend training earlier this month.

Werner Elementary School hosted a Veterans Day breakfast and concert for students, families, and veterans the Friday before Veterans Day.

Javelin throwing, jousting, a live falcon demonstration, and, of course, costumes were all part of the fun at Traut Core Knowledge School's annual Medieval Festival.

MyCycle has donated more than 1,100 bikes to second-graders at 糖心vlog's Title I elementary schools over the past four years. Above, students at Linton Elementary try out their new bikes. 

A $10,000 grant from the CrossFit Foundation made it possible for Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School to redo and update their weight room. The school hosted a ribbon-cutting Friday for newly installed equipment. 

Reading her new book “Wonder & Awe” to second-graders at  last week had a special meaning for local author-illustrator Annie Herzig, who was once a Bauder student herself! 

 

October

糖心vlog elementary students at CANS Around the Oval.

Students from multiple 糖心vlog schools collected tons of non-perishable food for the Food Bank for Larimer County during the annual C.A.N.S. Around the Oval food drive. Teams used donated items to get creative during a CANstruction contest. Read more about the event.>>

The annual Peer Summit brings together 糖心vlog high school students for a day focused on leadership and wellness.

Environmental Leadership students from Fort Collins High School recently spent a week in Florissant for an experience at the High Trails Outdoor Education Center.

Students from across the district recently participated in the first 糖心vlog Student Equity Coalition meeting of the year.

Congratulations to the 438 糖心vlog students who received awards based on their national Advanced Placement test results for 2023-24!

The Fall 2024 District Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee meeting on Sept. 23 highlighted the ways students explore career options.

 

September

Project SEARCH students recently began their first internships at Poudre Valley Hospital!

Laurel Elementary celebrated the opening of its new Nature Center with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Bacon Elementary dedicated its new outdoor classroom with the school's namesake, Bob Bacon.
